The event brought together academics, institutional representatives, and experts in the field of corrections, who provided in-depth analysis of the current challenges that the prison system is facing and discussed the necessary reforms to ensure decent detention conditions and promote the social reintegration of inmates.

Key topics included prison overcrowding, access to healthcare, education, and the reintegration of prisoners into society.

Speakers stressed that improving detention conditions is not merely a legal obligation of the state, but also a deeply democratic and cultural choice—one that reflects the level of humanitarianism and respect for human rights in a modern democracy.

The event concluded with a live discussion and questions from the audience, which highlighted the strong interest of the academic and professional community in shaping a fairer, more effective, and human-centered correctional policy.

The event program (in Greek) is available in a PDF file.

The summary of the main conclusions is available here.

For those who were unable to attend in person, the video of the event is available below.
