The President of the Marangopoulos Foundation for Human Rights, Professor Linos-Alexandre Sicilianos, was invited by the President of the Hellenic Court od Audit, Sotiria Ntouni, to address the Plenary Session of the Court on the topic: “Contemporary Challenges Facing the European Court of Human Rights.”

Professor Sicilianos focused in particular on the challenges faced by the judges of the European Court of Human Rights, the challenges confronting the Court itself as an institution, and, ultimately, the contemporary challenges facing the entire system for the protection of human rights in Europe. These challenges arise from factors such as illiberal regimes, international conflicts, and recent state interventions affecting the judicial function.

The presentation was followed by a fruitful discussion with the President and the Vice-Presidents of the Court.
