Participation of the President of the MFHR, Professor L.-A. Sicilianos, in the LL.M. Programme in International Law at the Law School of the University of Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne
During the week of 8–12 December, Professor Linos-Alexandros Sicilianos, President of the MFHR, participated as a visiting professor in the LL.M. programme in International Law at the Faculty of Law of the Sorbonne University (Université Paris I: Panthéon-Sorbonne).
At a particularly challenging time for the protection of human rights, the President of the MFHR analysed, among other issues, the “Challenges currently facing the European Court of Human Rights” referring in particular to the crucial role of the judges, who are called upon to deal with issues spanning all branches of law in 46 countries, the importance and unifying function of the ECtHR, as well as the impact of the contemporary challenges facing Europe, including, among others, armed conflicts, migration, rule of law deficiencies on the protection of the rights enshrined in the European Convention on Human Rights.
