The Marangopoulos Foundation for Human Rights (MFHR) welcomes the choice of the government majority to nominate Aikaterini Sakellaropoulou, President of the Hellenic Council of State, as candidate for President of the Hellenic Republic. According to her statements, such a nomination honors the ideal of Justice, as well as the modern Greek woman. The MFHR, being dedicated and firm in defending women’s rights and historically related to the Council of Europe, cannot but express its satisfaction in the fact that Greece is most likely set to have soon the first woman President of the Hellenic Republic, who originates from an institution mandated to protect Human Rights and democratic values.
