The relationship between the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) and Criminal Procedural Law is close and constantly evolving, primarily through the case-law of the European Court of Human Rights. This development directly or indirectly concerns the full range of defendants’ rights guaranteed under Article 6 of the ECHR.
The case-law of the Greek courts has, to a considerable extent, aligned itself with that of the Strasbourg Court. Nevertheless, significant issues remain that require further examination and appropriate consideration.
The Institute of Criminal Procedural Law and the Marangopoulos Foundation for Human Rights (MFHR) are organizing a scientific event entitled “ECHR & Criminal Procedural Law.”
The event will take place on Monday, 12 October 2026, at 5:30 p.m., at the Athens Bar Association (Akadimias 60).
Distinguished speakers -including academics, lawyers and judges- with extensive experience and expertise in this field will explore contemporary aspects of the relationship between the ECHR and Criminal Procedural Law. They will also shed light on critical issues arising in legal theory, case-law and practice.
You can find the conference program here.
