Election of M.-A. Kostopoulou to the presidency of the EDVAW Platform
From 1 January to 31 December 2026, GREVIO President and member of the MFHR’s governing board Maria-Andriani Kostopoulou will be taking on the presidency of the EDVAW Platform.
The Platform brings together seven United Nations and regional independent expert mechanisms addressing discrimination and violence against women and girls:
- African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights Special Rapporteur on the Rights of Women in Africa (ASRWHR)
- MESECVI – Committee of Experts of the Follow-up Mechanism to the Belém do Pará Convention
- GREVIO – Group of Experts on Action against Violence against Women and Domestic Violence
- Inter-American Commission on Human Rights’ Rapporteur on the Rights of Women (IA RWHR)
- CEDAW Committee – UN Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women
- UN Special Rapporteur on violence against women and girls (SR VAWG)
- UN Working Group on discrimination against women and girls (WGDAWG)
Through their coordinated action, these mechanisms strengthen cooperation and highlight critical issues for the rights of women and girls worldwide.
In 2026, the GREVIO presidency will contribute, among other things, to the theme of the 70th session of the CSW, focusing on strengthening access to justice for all women and girls — without barriers, discrimination, or fear of reprisals.
