Closing Ceremony of the School Year at the Avlona Special Juvenile Detention Center – MFHR Awards Presentation 2026
On Thursday, 25 June 2026, the closing ceremony of the school year was held at the Avlona Special Youth Detention Centre in a deeply moving and emotionally charged atmosphere.
For the 19th consecutive year, the Marangopoulos Foundation for Human Rights (MFHR) proudly presented awards to students of the Elementary School, Secondary School and High School who stood out for their academic achievements, exemplary conduct, and active participation in school life. We warmly congratulate all the students on their perseverance, dedication, and accomplishments.

Τhe MFHR was represented at the ceremony by Mr. Petros Damianos, Secretary General of the MFHR Governing Board and former Director of the Elementary School, Secondary School, High School and the Institute of Vocational Training operating within the Avlona Special Juvenile Detention Center, as well as Ms. Irini Bougonikolou, Scientific Associate of the MFHR.

The students’ theatrical performance, entitled Letter Without a Recipient, was particularly moving. Equally impressive were the exhibitions of paintings and visual artworks created by the students themselves, showcasing their creativity, sensitivity, and artistic talent.
We wish all the students every success as they continue their educational journey with the same determination, perseverance, and commitment to personal growth and development.
We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to the Directorate of the Educational Units operating within the Avlona Special Juvenile Detention Center, and especially to Ms. Anastasia Peppa, for the excellent cooperation with the MFHR. Finally, we express our deep appreciation to the teachers and volunteers who, through their dedication, consistency, and steadfast belief in the transformative power of education, support the invaluable work carried out every day at the Avlona Educational Units.
