The Governing Board of the Marangopoulos Foundation for Human Rights (MFHR) expresses its deep sorrow for the loss of the Emeritus Professor and Honorary President of the MFHR, Elli Yotopoulos-Sicilianos, who passed away yesterday, on September 14, 2025.

Professor Elli Yotopoulos-Sicilianos served as President of the MFHR from 2018 to September 2024, making a multifaceted contribution and continuing the work of her sister and late former President of the MFHR, Aliki Yotopoulos-Marangopoulos.

She was also elected Professor of the Ionian University and member of its Governing Committee since its establishment (1984), while also served as President of the Governing Committee from 1990 to 1993, making significant scholarly contributions.

The funeral service will be held on Friday, September 19, at 11:00 a.m., at the chapel of Agioi Theodoroi, A’ Cemetery of Athens.

Those who wish to pay their final respects and honor her memory are welcome to attend the ceremony.
