Call for the MFHR Awards Competition for Greek and Cypriot Universities 2025

Scholarships for the 54th Summer Course of Human Rights Studies of the International Institute for Human Rights René Cassin
The Marangopoulos Foundation for Human Rights (MFHR) announces a competition for the award of three prizes to undergraduate and postgraduate students of Greek and Cypriot universities for the three best original papers in Greek, which have not been published, on one of the following topics:
1. “Grave Violations of Human Rights in the World: The Case of Gaza“
2. “Detention conditions in Greek prisons according to the ECHR jurisprudence“
3. “Gender Discrimination in Afghanistan: A Fundamental Challenge to Women’s Rights“
The awards consist of three scholarships (travel and tuition fees) for attending Module 1 on ’International Human Rights Law” of the 54th Summer Course on Human Rights Studies to be held between 23.6.2025 – 4.7.2025 in Strasbourg and organized by the René Cassin International Institute for Human Rights.
The awardees undertake to attend the course without interruption and to submit a report to MFHR by 31.07.2025.
Each paper should meet the following specifications:
a) Length: 7,000-12,000 words (including footnotes, but excluding: bibliography, table of contents, any index and appendices).
b) Minimum contents: table of contents, main text, footnotes, bibliography.
c) Formatting: Main text: Times New Roman 12 font and 1,5 spacing. Footnotes: Times New Roman 10 font and single-spacing.
d) Electronic file format: word or pdf (no other format)
e) Include full details of the contestant (full name, e-mail and telephone number).
(f) Attach an updated CV of the candidate.
Papers should be sent electronically to info@mfhr.gr and in hard copy to the offices of the Marangopoulos Foundation for Human Rights, 1c Lycavittou Street, Athens 106 72 by 18 May 2025.

When submitting the papers, candidates must indicate their Student Registration Number and the School of Higher Education in which they are registered.
The awards ceremony will take place in June 2025 at the MFHR.
