  • In 1989, the Marangopoulos Chair was established at the International Institute of Human Rights in Strasbourg. Each year since then distinguished professors and experts teach courses focused on a topical issue during the summer session of the Institute.

  • The Marangopoulos Foundation for Human Rights, in its efforts to raise awareness concerning human rights, translated the U.N.D.P.I. Publication "About the United Nations-Teaching about Human Rights", United Nations, New York, 1991. The publication is addressed to schoolteachers, to serve as a model for human rights education. It has been distributed gratis to a substantial number of schools.

  • The Marangopoulos Foundation felt the necessity to stress the significance of introducing the concept of Democracy and the most crucial points revolving around it and thus took the initiative to translate UNESCO's publication "Introducing Democracy: 80 Questions and Answers" by Professors D. Beetham and K. Boyle. Upon the distribution of the Greek translation, MFHR organized an open event held at the Old Parliament of Greece, Athens (22 May, 1996). The Foundation's publications were presented by V. Botopoulos, President of the Supreme Administrative Court and S. Moussouris, former Assistant Secretary-General of the UN, while the MFHR's activities were presented by Prof. A. Yotopoulos-Marangopoulos, President of MFHR.

  • The MFHR, in its efforts to stress the importance of the protection of social rights, translated into Greek and published the Council of Europe brochure Securing Social Rights Across Europe on the European Social Charter, as well as its accompanying explanatory flyer. The brochure and the flyer have been distributed gratis to NGOs, trade unions, mass media, university libraries, teachers' associations, in Greece and in Cyprus.
  • As part of its programmes aiming at promoting human rights education as well as raising youth awareness in human rights issues, the MFHR translated into Greek and published the Council of Europe video cassette and accompanying brochure entitled "Stand up NOW for Human Rights!", describing initiatives taken by youth groups across Europe for the promotion and protection of human rights. The accompanying material contains a series of proposals and ideas concerning human rights education for young people aged 13 to 18. The video cassette and the brochure have been distributed free of charge to schools, teachers, youth organizations, NGOs, etc., in Greece and in Cyprus.

  • Since the Marangopoulos Foundation for Human Rights was established, it has emphasized human rights education and has constantly supported, encouraged, and assisted students in their quest for further knowledge. With a view to this, scholarships have been granted, up to now, to more than 30 post-graduate students of Greek and Cypriot nationality specialising in human rights.
